The Times destroys its RSS feeds after encouraging readers to use them

While building RSS feeds for The Times UK, we weren't surprised to find out they no longer offer RSS feeds. Most news websites that want to track everything about how their content is consumed don't, unfortunately.

However, what's especially intriguing about the Times is how they talked so highly about RSS in an article they wrote, that mentions how RSS feeds are the "saviour" we need for the internet, but ultimately ended up ditching them. And, didn't bother to update their article explaining how to use their RSS feeds, which still has the old feed links that no longer work.

None of this is as big of a deal, since we're on a mission to provide RSS feeds for every website on the internet that doesn't already have them. It's just ironic to see a company talk about how great RSS feeds are to access their content, but deliberately get rid of them. And instead, make their content even less accessible by shoving it behind a pay wall.

Regardless, we've provided RSS feeds for The Times, since they can't seem to avoid contradicting the content in the articles they write. As an example, here's the RSS feed for the Renewable Energy page of their Environment section.
