RSS Guard users are getting blocked from RSS feeds
Resolved
-
Confirmed a notable amount of IP addresses being used by the app are being blocked.
-
An issue has been filed for developers to update the app so that it makes requests without tripping RSS feed rate limits or blocks. But a resolution to the issue would only address requests made to the same RSS feed on a single domain. The app needs a solution that will address its excessive number of requests being made at the same time to different RSS feeds that are all on the same domain.

We've reached out to the developer to suggest following the guidelines when requesting feed content. This will avoid overloading websites and prevent negatively impacting their performance.

A fix for the application making excessive, unnecessary requests to the same feeds for content has been attempted in martinrotter/rssguard#1154. However, the change has not been verified and there is no confirmation of a release.

The developer has attempted to implement a fix in martinrotter/rssguard#1322. However, the solution hasn't yet been tested or verified.

We've reached out to the developer for more information. An update will be provided once all issues are addressed and verified.

This issue has been resolved and is now being mitigated by restricting the application's requests through our abuse protection. Because RSS Guard is not a verified reader, it will continue to be automatically restricted when excessive requests are made—even if those requests are made across multiple IP addresses and regardless of their User Agent.
If you are a miniflux user and donating at least $25 or more per month to help with server costs, please contact us for a special token that can be added to the application that will remove these restrictions.
