GitHub RSS feeds

Stay up to date with the latest activity across repositories on GitHub using Open RSS feeds. Dive in below to see how you can get an RSS feed for issues, pull requests, discussions, releases, comments in individual threads, and more.

Issues feed

  1. Go to any issues listing page on a GitHub repository (e.g. https://github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/issues).
  2. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  3. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  4. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Issue comments feed

  1. Go to any issue on a GitHub repository (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/issues/211).
  2. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  3. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  4. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Pull requests feed

  1. Go to any pull requests listing page on a GitHub repository (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/pulls).
  2. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL in your browser bar.
  3. Navigate your browser to the updated URL to load the RSS feed.
  4. Subscribe to the RSS feed by adding it to your RSS reader.

Pull Request comments feed

  1. Go to any pull request on a GitHub repository (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/pull/860).
  2. While on the page pull request page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL in your browser bar.
  3. Navigate your browser to the updated URL to load the RSS feed.
  4. Subscribe to the RSS feed by adding it to your RSS reader.

Repository discussions feed

RSS feeds for a repository's Discussions are available. You can get one by doing the following:

  1. Go to any GitHub repository (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb).
  2. Click on the "Discussions" at the top which will take you to the Discussions page (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/discussions). If there is no "Discussions" option in the navigation at the top, the repository hasn't yet enabled Discussions.
  3. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  4. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  5. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Organization discussions feed

Get an RSS feed for a GitHub organization's Discussions by doing the following:

  1. Go to any organization's GitHub page (e.g. github.com/orgs/community).
  2. Click on the "Discussions" at the top which will take you the organization's Discussion page (e.g. github.com/orgs/community/discussions). If there is no "Discussions" option in the navigation at the top, the repository hasn't yet enabled Discussions.
  3. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  4. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  5. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Branch feed

Subscribe to a live RSS feed of all commits as they're pushed to the master, main, or any other branch on a repository.

  1. Go to any GitHub repository (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb).
  2. Click "Branches" to see a listing of all branches on the repository.
  3. Click on a single branch from the list, which will update the URL to something similar to github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/tree/main.
  4. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  5. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  6. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Forks feed

Get an RSS feed of all new forks created from a GitHub repository.

  1. Go to any GitHub repository (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb).
  2. Click on "Forks". GitHub will redirect you to the page to create a fork. Ignore this.
  3. While on the "Create a new Fork" page, click on the "View existing forks" link, which will take you to a URL that looks similar to github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/forks.
  4. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  5. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  6. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Tags feed

Get an RSS feed of all new tags pushed to a GitHub repository.

  1. Go to any GitHub repository (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb).
  2. Click on "Tags" to go to the repository's Tag page (e.g github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/tags).
  3. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  4. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  5. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Repository stars feed

Get an RSS feed of users who star a repository.

  1. Go to any GitHub repository (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb).
  2. Click on the "Stars" tab to go to the repository's Stargazers page (e.g github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/stargazers).
  3. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  4. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  5. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Gists feed

  1. Go to any user's Gists (e.g. gist.github.com/ashtom).
  2. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  3. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  4. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Gist comments feed

  1. Go to any user's Gist (e.g. gist.github.com/ashtom).
  2. Click on any single Gist listed on the page which will update the URL to something similar to gist.github.com/ashtom/1cd9602b122082827b38eb79d605ca1a.
  3. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  4. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  5. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

Releases feed

Get an RSS feed of all new releases made to a GitHub repository.

  1. Go to any GitHub repository (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb).
  2. Click on "Releases" to go to the repository's Releases page (e.g github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/releases).
  3. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  4. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  5. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

File commits feed

  1. Go to any file inside of repository on GitHub (e.g. github.com/octokit/octokit.rb/commits/main/CONTRIBUTING.md).
  2. Click on "History" to view the file's history of commits.
  3. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  4. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  5. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.

User feed

Get an RSS feed for a user's activity across GitHub.

  1. Go to any user's page on GitHub (e.g. github.com/ashtom)
  2. While on the page, add openrss.org/ at the beginning of the URL of the page in your browser bar.
  3. Navigate to the updated URL to generate the Open RSS feed.
  4. Add the RSS feed to your RSS reader.
